Movies On TV

With so much money in television advertising it is no surprise to see television stations providing better quality movies on TV for their viewers to watch. The weekends tend to be the best time to watch a good movie on free to air television with Saturday and Sunday nights the standout days of the week for movie lovers.

If you don’t want to wait all week to watch a good movie then cable or satellite TV is another option open to you. FOXTEL is a subscription television company that provides packages from as low as $36.95 to their Platinum package at $101.95 which includes two free FOXTEL Box Office movies per month.

FOXTEL has nine designated movie channels for you to enjoy. The movies shown on Box Office eventually make their way onto one of the “free” movie channels about six months after they have appeared on the Box Office channel. If you don’t want to pay to “hire” a box office movie then you can just watch movies and wait for the “latest release” movies to play on one of the other movie channels.

You can also watch movies and many documentaries on a few of the other channels including UK-TV, Fox Classics, Comedy, W, the History channel and educational programs such as National Geographic, Animal Planet and Discovery channel.

There is certainly something for everyone with prescription TV if you can afford to spend the money on monthly premiums.

Country, regional and rural viewers can also subscribe to Pay TV with Australian telecommunications company AUSTAR providing cable and satellite TV into remote area. They have an agreement in place which gives their subscribers the opportunity to watch the same movie channels on their TV that are available to FOXTEL viewers.

The advantages of watching movies on Pay TV far outweigh the product offered on free to air television. There are no commercials during the showing of a movie. Movies are shown more than once so if something unexpected pops up then you do get the opportunity to watch it later. With the new digital service there is also a facility to record the box office movie that you are watching so that you can rewind a funny scene.

When hiring a box office movie, you can watch that movie again and again until 7am the following morning.

Movies are played 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the movie channels if you are a PAY-TV subscriber. In the main, you will find a decent movie that will appeal to your tastes. Free to air television movies don’t give you the same luxury with only five stations, your stuck with what they serve up unless you head to the video store to hire a DVD.

Satellite TV movies are also newer released movies that haven’t finished playing at the cinemas too long ago. Granted, you won’t find any of the latest release DVDs on cable TV but you will find that the movies are generally, not too old at all. Unlike television movies that show two-year-old movies which you have more than likely seen at the movies and on DVD without the commercials.
