ROBERT Downey jnr is strapping on his metal suit to join the superhero team effort The Avengers in addition to Iron Man 2. Downey is reprising his role as billionaire genius Tony Stark from last summer's blockbuster Iron Man. The sequel is due in the United States in May 2010, and The Avengers is scheduled for July 2011. The movies are part of a four-picture deal between Downey and Marvel.

ESTELLE Reiner, who uttered the famous line, "I'll have what she's having," after watching Meg Ryan fake an orgasm in the movie When Harry Met Sally, has died, aged 94. Reiner, the wife of actor-director Carl Reiner and mother of actor-director Rob Reiner, died of old age at her home in Beverly Hills. Besides a handful of movie roles, Reiner was a painter and late in life became a jazz singer.

BRITISH actor Michael Caine is to co-host the upcoming Nobel Peace Prize Concert along with US actress Scarlett Johansson. Caine, a two-time Academy Award-winning actor, appeared with Johansson in the 2006 movie The Prestige. Among acts slated to perform at the December 11 concert are Diana Ross along with Canadian singer-songwriter Leslie Feist, US country musician Dierks Bentley, singer Julieta Venegas, Nigerian musician Seun Kuti and Norwegian singer-songwriter Marit Larsen. The concert is held the day after the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony where the 2008 winner, former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari, is to be honoured.
