Synopsis
The guys at Pixar sure have one heck of an imagination. Who would come up with the idea of kids' toys coming to life when your back is turned around? Andy's a little boy with an awesome collection of toys, headed by the cowboy Woody. But these toys talk and act just like people, and they've got feelings, too. In fact, while Andy's birthday party is going on, the toys fear for their place in Andy's life. What cool and awesome toy could possibly replace them?
Enter Buzz Lightyear - To infinity and beyond! - the hi-tech newbie with features and accessories never before seen by the toys in Andy's room. Woody, the ringleader of the gang, is obviously jealous of the space man straight from the box. Buzz is still slightly, well, buzzed, and he can't seem to comprehend the fact that he's a mere toy, but still, the assortment of Andy's play things are instantly drawn to his costume and the lights he shoots out from his suit. What's Woody to do? Then enters Andy, who's got to pick one toy from the bunch to bring to the pizza place. Woody slyly gets in Buzz's way, and the rest of the toys are appalled. Buzz is clueless up to this point but manages to tag along, thinking that he's still on a quest to battle his nemesis Zurg. But of course, Woody and Buzz must fight, and the two end up with the meanest kid on the block. The two heroes are trapped with this terrible tyke but what are they to do? They are just toys after all... right?
With Tom Hanks and Tim Allen playing Woody and Buzz, audiences will surely enjoy the comic camaraderie between the two. The adventure-filled Toy Story is a huge step in animation, and it is executed wonderfully. Although only a really simple story of how two enemies work together to get out of a tight situation and become friends in the process, Toy Story is the first project from Pixar in creating magic from color, creativity, and child-friendly action and humor.
