Synopsis

"The Blues Brothers" is a must-see movie for people who love music and action. The interesting thing about the "Blues Brothers" is that it was perfected to mix action, comedy, and music in one craft. This movie, which only had a $27-million budget, earned more than $100,000,000 gross revenue because of its witty humor, great music, and touching story of brotherhood and charity.

The movie begins when Jake Blues (Belushi) is freed from Joliet Prison. He meets his brother Elwood (Aykroyd) to drop by at the old orphanage where they grew up. When the brothers learned that the old home has to be closed down, they thought that they have to do something to spare the old orphanage.

The Blues brothers decided to help the orphanage continue its operation. As such, Jake and Elwood planned to play on big gigs to earn $5000 so the orphanage could pay its property tax. They reformed their old RnB band named the Blues Brothers. The siblings considered their undertaking as their "mission from God", which they have to accomplish within 11 days. They faced a number of adventures in accomplishing their goal and many of these feats are humorous and filled with action. "The Blues Brothers" is all in all an exciting and entertaining musical comedy movie that features just the perfect casting not to the great RnB artists included in the film. As such, apart from the excellent chemistry of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd and their breath-taking car chases, another factor that made "The Blues Brothers" a popular musical film is its soundtrack. Music-lovers can definitely enjoy the performances by superstars Cab Calloway, James Brown, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin. Its soundtrack also features a number of classic and amusing songs such as "Gimme Some Lovin", "Sweet Home Chicago", and "Jailhouse Rock". Music genres like blues, jazz, rock, swing, and more are used to make this unmatched film more entertaining.

This Universal Pictures film, which was released in the 1980, received undoubtedly high praises. It took home the Best Sound Editing and Sound Effects from the prestigious Golden Reel Award.
