Synopsis

Ever wonder where those monsters lurking under your bed or hiding in your closet come from? Well, wonder no more, as Pixar answers your bedtime woes with this clever twist on childhood fears. Monsters, Inc., released late in 2001, proved that Pixar can turn even the scariest monster story into a tale that can tickle you to bursting into joyous peals of laughter.

John Goodman and Billy Crystal lend their talents to this animated flick as Sulley and Mike, the winningest pair in the scare factory of Monstropolis. In order to provide their city with electricity, these monsters have to put on their game faces, with their fangs, fur, claws - the works! - and terrify human children tucked tightly in their beds into screaming their lungs out. Their fiercest rival is the sly Randall, voiced by Steve Buscemi, and he and Sulley continuously compete for the title of ultimate scarer. But unknown to the human world, these monsters are equally prone to fright. And their worst nightmare? Little kids! "There's nothing more toxic or deadly than a human child," says power plant big boss Henry J. Waternoose (James Coburn). So what happens when a cute big-eyed, bouncy tike named Boo enters the monster world and falls into the hands of Mike and Sulley? Only an action-pumped adventure of sneaky tactics and madcap chases, all flavored with slapstick goofs and gags. As the quarreling duo, Goodman and Crystal's comebacks are perfectly timed as they traipse around Monstropolis to keep their little secret under wraps.

The CGI geniuses at Pixar have done it again, their talents boasting the wonderful color spectacle that is Monsters, Inc. But Pixar's talents aren't simply seen in their exquisite details. Once more, they've created a very original story that the entire family can enjoy. Monster's Inc. is packed with sharp and witty humor, suspenseful action scenes, delightful surprises, and of course, heart-warming realizations. An Oscar-nominated feature, Monster's Inc. is another hit from our guys at Pixar, setting the standard for the rest of the animated films to come.
